The Importance of a Woman’s Hair

30 June 2011 • Kimberly • Leave a Comment

Two things can make a woman look good in a snap regardless of how disheveled or rushed she is for some last-minute (or, God, forbid, a forgotten) appointment.

1. Great hair, or…

2. A great bag.

(Inner-confidence kind of goes without saying.)

Now, having both would be ideal, but keeping in mind that to greed is a deadly sin and maintaining both may leave a girl’s funds scant, option number two is the cheaper alternative.

You see, curling irons are a beautiful thing. Investing in that one hair tool (along with a heat protectant spray and finishing serum) can make a world of a difference even with the unsightliest of haircuts—personal experience justifies this claim—and uplift (literally) a less-than-fabulous day. Not to mention, every woman looks better with a bit of tousled volume. Believe in the power of loose curls! However: imperfection is essential. Anything too perfect is irking, for one. But immaculate ringlets chime playground chic, and assuming that none of us are after resembling Shirley Temple, I’ve established that the bigger, the messier, the better. For that je ne sais quoi, bed head, sex hair.

My current curling iron (a super-cheap Revlon one with a massive barrel) is dying on me. It’s been a good two years, but I’m ready for big leagues, now, and to upgrade from a boy to a man. I’ve been flirting with one in particular: the 1 ½ Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium™ Spring Curling Iron. Quite the mouthful literally and physically (I love a big barrel, no pun intended). And he sounds super strong and all sorts of tech-savvy. A keeper, my mother would say.

He’d create perfectly-sized curls to which I could muss up later and spritz with a texturizing spray for more of the Bardot effect.

It’s rare to for such a catch to come cheap, but at $49.99 (!) instead of its usual $79.99, I’m ready to take “Single” off my Facebook status.

But on the days I’m in the mood for a sleek mane that exudes Bond spy girl, the James Bond to my hair woes would be the Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium straightener.

Hair style is the final tip-off whether or not a woman really knows herself.
