After years of eyeing OPI‘s “Lincoln Park After Dark,” I finally got my little hands on the cult classic. Yes, it’s the middle of summer, and yes we’re in the middle of a heat wave, and yes, I’m supposed to be gesticulating wildly with pretty brights on my nails, but I’ve had my fill of being the girl with the perfectly manicured paw (in nude or white). A little rebellion here and there is healthy for the soul.
So they say.
It’s easy to see why “Lincoln Park After Dark” is a long-time favorite. Blackened purples happen to be some of my favorite shades to wear, it’s just light enough to hint at some sort of dark, feminine mystique This one is no different: it applies beautifully in just one coat, and in two, you’re left with an opaque finish that dries to a glossy shine. Somehow it was just the change I needed to fit my current state of mind (color theory, anyone?), but I’ll be reaching for my beloved neutrals and pastels after this phase. Come the first sign of fall, however, there’s no doubt that I’ll be reaching for this shade as my go-to manicure.
. . .
