Happy Monday!
First things first. I was absolutely delighted & ecstatic to receive the “I love your blog” award from the lovely Demi of Fashionably Early. Thank you sooo much Demi – you’re truly the sweetest! It’s my first award ever, so please excuse me as I continue my ramblings on how happy I am.
I’m not sure if I’m supposed to pass this award on or not, but I do want to give it to the lovely ladies, Hui & Rachel, of Fashion is Tension. They’re the sweetest and most adorable girls ever! Here’s to the beginning of a friendship, all of it beginning with Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb. Yum 🙂
And now, back to business.
I have always been in love with the broadway, Wicked. Perhaps it was its story line that first attracted  me to the musical; that there was always another side to the story. That the story was told by the triumphant, who would never hesitate, even for a moment, to twist and tweak the events so that the fallen would become the universally hated enemy. And that story, the forgotten tale of the enemy, would never be told.
The book itself was far too drawn out; excessively graphic and at times, beating around the bush. But the musical’s interpretation of Geoffrey Maguire’s book completely changed my opinion of the story. I fell in love with the musical scores, the songs, the lyrics, and of course, Fiyero. 😉
It was a dream come true when I was able to see the show in London; and I must say that although the original recording of the U.S. cast (with Idina Menzel, Kristen Chenoweth, etc) was absolutely amazing, the London cast was just as good, if not exceeding. The voices were chill-inducing; so beautiful that it did cause, in that cliche phrase, the hair on the back of my neck to rise. And it didn’t help that the actor playing Fiyero was incredibly gorgeous, on top of that godly voice. I think I swooned when I met him.
So when I saw that Tarina Tarantino had a new collection for the Wizard of Oz, I was ecstatic. Despite her critics claiming her work to be juvenile and tacky, I completely disagree (perhaps I’m biased because I love fun jewelry bedecked in rhinestones, as well as Hello Kitty?). Her collections are always fun – something a lot of jewelry designers avoid in their quest to create the most sophisticated statement necklace. I absolutely love the necklaces of the wicked witch, Elphaba. I feel as if I have a soft spot for her, since the musical.
Without further a due, I bring to you an outfit in tribute to Elphaba. All in a uniform color scheme of teal and black, where Tarantino pendant is the centerpiece of the ensemble and accented with a little leather Coach purse. The perfect outfit for a night out, or to attend the actual show.
...Maybe I’m brainless, maybe I’m wise//But you’ve got me seeing through different eyes//Somehow i’ve fallen under your spell//And somehow I’m feeling it’s up that I fell…
xoxo,
La C.
Very lovely outfit indeed! Nice to those boots again, and even though nowadays fashion goes in a whole different way, I don’t care, I really like them.
Congrats, darling!

Thank you for being just that to us – lovely! We love your comments, your fun spirit, your awesome writing, your passion for fashion and all things beautiful! Thank you for loving our blog 🙂 There is no doubt that we love yours too! We don’t know either if that award can be passed on or not. So to be safe, we’ll just thank you profusely on here and say how honoured we are that you wanted to pass it on to us. You are such a dear ♥
On to comments on the post: Broadway is beautiful though I’ve yet to see an actual Broadway production myself. Musicals are always fun and to be able to dress up for them doubles the fun! I absolutely love the pendant you picked out and its wicked little reference 🙂 Also, that dress is killer. So versatile, so classy, so pretty!
Thanks for another great little piece of writing. 🙂
Love lots,
“Eloise” :p
Kristen Chenoweth is a bundle of cuteness, no? Especially in the movie RV!! hahaha
xx
I have not had a chance to see Wicked on Broadway yet, because i did try to read the book and you’re right, it was a bit too drawn out, so i quit. Maybe if i go to N.Y, and its on, i’ll see it.
Now the outfit, its absolutely darling! And those boots are gorgeous!
the outfit, indeed is perfect for a play!
Great outfit! I was lucky enough to see Wicked when I was in London too! I actually got a little misty-eyed in some parts, it was so well-done.

Wow, thanks so much La Lovely! Although I’m not very sure we quite deserve it. You on the other hand, definitely do. We’re so glad you enjoy reading our blog though, cos we really like what we find on yours! And yes, this is only the beginning of a really great friendship :).
I am SO jealous you got to watch Wicked! I was in London and they were playing last year, but it was also Christmas, and the week that i went, all broadway and concert gigs were closed. I agree, that whole switch in the point of view, and the ‘good’ ones twisting the actual events that happened makes for such a great story!
lovely post honey.never got to see Wicked.would love even more so after this post!
hope your well dear, you have been tagged.so check my latest post for rules ok.

I went to see Wicked when I was in London last year & it was absolutely my favourite musical. Of the 4 musicals I went to it was the only one that got a standing ovation. After the play I really wanted to buy the Wicked umbrella (witch hat shaped), but I didn’t have any space in my luggage. I think I like your outfit of it much better anyway. And I don’t think I would’ve used the umbrella at anytime other than halloween.
i love going to see what people wear!
and ofcourse the food!! haha
Ya, congratulations on the award 🙂
yum. turqouise!
Congratulations on the award!! You more than deserve it!
I love the black and turqouise! Great colour combination xx
Congrats on the award!
Love the outfit you put together – especially the dress and the killer boots! I’m actually wearing a very similar outfit today 😉
Cheers,
Karen O.
