I’m ashamed to admit that this cerulean Jacquemus set (from the Spring/Summer 2022 collection, titled “Le Splash”) went untouched in my closet for nearly two years. It took a blues-only dress code for me to snip the tags finally—and immediately the mismatched pairing made sense. Turns out, I have a predilection for this specific shade: I’ve had the Bottega Veneta mules (from Daniel Lee’s debut collection, I believe!) that matched precisely. Part of me was tempted to go duo-chromatic with a cyan small Telfar shopping bag, but it was a pinch too blue for the shades at hand—so the cream By Far Rachel it was. (A staple, and one I can wear on nights out when I don’t want to have to be so precious with my things.)
It only felt right to finish with Amouage Guidance (review here); I was in a summery mood, after all. If you’re someone who chooses fragrance by whether or not it earns compliments from strangers, this one (albeit polarizing), garners them by the dozen. I’m a light-handed spritzer (two at max) and Lyft drivers, passersby, and friends alike asked for the perfume’s name.
. . .
