Chanel was just lovely. The energy was charming and cheerful, and the girls looked as if they stepped out of the pages of Lula or The Violet Book and onto the runway. Like Giambattista Valli’s fall collection, there was something incredibly nostalgic about the show—not because the clothes were iterations of the French house’s iconic tweed or quilted leather accessories—but because it reminded us of an era when fashion was pure joy.
It’s as refreshing as it is reassuring to see a resurgence of clothes made to capture that mood; I’m not alone in wanting to revisit those times. There’s comfort in those memories, and right now, it’s just what we need.
