It’s been a while since I’ve spent any amount of time following the major fashion weeks (the shuttering of Style.com seemed to parallel with the dimming of my Fashion-with-a-capital-F obsession)—and though there were a few shows that re-sparked that love (Loewe, namely), my interest wasn’t peaked until snapshots of Shanghai Fashion Week started to circulate my feed. Two designers, in particular, caught my eye. This is the first: DONSEE10.
DONSEE10’s spring/summer 2022 collection was the embodiment of astute sensuality, a celebration of she who resists and persists and is impenetrable to the outside world. Served with interesting cuts and silhouettes à la Jacquemus and the cool, perhaps aloof, decisiveness of Dion Lee—presented with the crispness of Victoria Beckham suiting—these are the clothes I’ve dreamt of for so long. (Designer comparisons, I know, are cheap, but a crutch for the fashion outsider—yours truly—who’s become clunky with her words.)
All this time, DONSEE10 was what I’d been looking for. Nothing was lacking; everything was giving.
