1. Been drinking copious amounts of green tea again because when I stopped for whatever god forsaken reason, my skin freaked. Never again. Green tea always and forever.
2. Kids really do say the darndest things. Yesterday, while in line at Dunkin Donuts for my go-to egg-white-veggie-flatbread (sans cheese if I’m feeling particularly virtuous), I overheard a little girl tell her babysitter, “But I don’t want my sprinkles—I mean freckles! My freckles!—to go away!”
I’m not sure if her confusion was sparked by her passionate, pro-freckles cry (the babysitter told her she “had too many freckles from the sun and needed to stay inside so she doesn’t get anymore”), or that she was distracted by the prospects of choosing a donut. It’s a sweet sentiment, regardless.
3. This stirred something in me, and I had to write about it. It’s not the most fully formed, well-written, or thoroughly written piece, but I couldn’t not verbalize what had been on my mind for nearly 20 years.
4. I took my first proper dance class at BDC last Friday (Ashlé Dawson‘s Latin Fusion). I was more than just a reunion with two of my best friends: they picked this class specifically knowing it was what I needed to get my groove back (pun not intended). I’ve been more lethargic than I’d like to admit the past month or so—a by-product of insomnia, bad diet, feeling insecure (as a dancer, namely)—and this was the antidote that pushed me in the right direction to rediscover and re-sync with myself. More classes are definitely in order. Also, I have the best friends.
5. On a similar note, I’ve had my first two rehearsals with a new ladies’ salsa team! It’s something I never thought I could do (thank you Sheena for asking me to join!) but the opportunity came right when I needed it most. For so long I’ve been dependent on a partner and now I’m able to focus on myself; it’s freeing, if not empowering.
I’m starting to feel like me again.
. . .
