Does a mini hiatus actually exist if I don’t address the radio silence since early July? It’s not that I don’t have things to write about; it’s quite the opposite, in fact. Lately, it feels as though I have too much to find the right words for and not enough to spare post-workday—a good problem to have, of course. The fact that I can do what I love and make a living will never not feel like an incredible stroke of luck.
But I digress.
Earlier this week, I dropped by the FWRD Pop-Up on Melrose which, truth be told, was even better than I expected. Curation was stellar, and the space itself was stunning (with complimentary parking, too: an L.A. rarity!). Admittedly I was distracted for a good five minutes by the Christian Dior newsprint dress of Carrie Bradshaw renown, but after coming to my senses, I regained composure. I was there on a mission: to pick up a look for a Barbie movie matinee this Saturday.
Did I browse every pink-tagged product on the site the night before despite knowing exactly what I wanted? Yes, unfortunately, which is exactly how FWRD and its sister site Revolve get the girlies to spend—then return—en masse. Even after reaching the last page, my mind still hadn’t changed from the start. (Fifteen minutes of scrolling could have been saved for something more productive, but you know what they say about hindsight.) Within 24 hours, the piece I requested was sent to the pop-up: a dream feature for last-minute events or impulse shoppers trying to curb the habit. Even if neither applies to you, do make the most of it while the FWRD boutique is open until August 13; it’s worth a visit if just to ogle the rare finds alone.
Speaking of: my god, that Galliano for Dior dress! It’s even more exquisite in person, and if I had the body for a mini, I might’ve been delusional enough to put down the $15,000 deposit required just to try it on…
. . .
