I’m back in New Jersey, but my head and heart are still in Toronto. Moving isn’t an option right now, so the only sensible thing for me to do at this point is flood everyone’s insta-feeds with art photos they don’t care for. (Which would explain the dramatic drop in followers when I started a new feed @kimberlypearl_ …) It’s my Instagram, anyhow. Not yours.
And what’s a trip without a tourist-y stop at a local gallery or museum? No itinerary to Toronto would be complete without visiting the Art Gallery of Toronto (AGO), even if just to ogle at their cheeky contemporary collections and minimalist decor:
“Somewhere to Light” from New York International, by James Rosenquist (1966)
“Untitled” from Marilyn Monroe, by Andy Warhol (1967)
“Woman,” by Allen Jones (1965)
Editor’s note: This actually screams misogynist. Dear Allen Jones: that snake clasp detail is the icing on the cake. (So is the subtlety implied by two lips on a woman’s body; so clever, you!) Save your Eve-and-the-devil shit.
“Reverie” from II Pop Artists: The New Image, by Roy Lichtenstein (1966)
Also, if you’re not following me on Snapchat (kimberlypearlco), you should consider it. Most of the time I’m just using it for the crazy filters to send derp faces to my man, but sometimes I’ll think I’m witty as ?—so much so that I even put together a cheesy slideshow (but was clearly too cheap for the upgrade) for you.
. . .
xx
Your turn. Thoughts?
