Steely-eyed and dressed to the (velvet-y) nines: Carine Roitfeld, or, The Woman We Should All Aspire To Be. This is how Halloween should be, no?
But for now, I’ll settle for my Leg Avenue bodysuits and generic costumes (cat, leopard, bunny, vampire, skeleton). At 22 I get great satisfaction at shimmying in and out of a Lycra one-piece, or donning a Maison Michel-inspired lace headpiece with a vintage corset—I tell myself that I’m only young once, but really, it’s more than that. There’s freedom in being given permission to break out of your personal norm in favor of something more unusual. Or aspirational. Whatever it is, whoever you choose to be, it’s liberating.
(But really, have you worn a unitard? The word is vile but the garment most certainly is not.)
Happy Halloween!
