Things I can never leave a museum without: an official catalog for the coffee table book collection, a tee or tote (the latter from this exhibit was too cute to resist), and of course, stationary.
If you spent your childhood spellbound by Hayao Miyazaki’s world, do step onto the fourth floor of the Academy Museum. Admire the genius; become entranced by the artistry behind the scenes and the magic on screen. Melt at the sight of little girls dressed up as Kiki—giant red bow, little black cat, and all—staring in wonderment at the physical manifestation of the Mother Tree in the Magical Forest.
It’s enough to inspire your inner child. No photos are allowed (which makes the experience all the more special); just let your imagination roam free.
