I think to say “I love New York City” is an understatement for me – I wish I lived there! I just love everything about the Big Apple; the life, the food, the shops, the culture…NYC is the center and epitome of diversity and fashion (emphasis on fashion). I simply cannot see myself anywhere else… Anyway. Yesterday was an amazing day with the girlies! It was amazing to spend the day with them, shopping, eating, and walking around the city before some of the girls go off to college (I will miss them oh-so-much!!)
For Lunch: We ate at the Chelsea Market, where there were various little cafe-like shops or stands in the building. I suggest the Italian food…it is simply amazing! There’s also a milk bar inside with, no lie, the best milkshakes. It’s a bit pricey for a little cup of it, but it is totally worth it! I suggest you try chocolate covered strawberries: it’s made of fresh milk & strawberries & fudge…with each sip you can taste the flavors distinctively – first its the strawberry, then the chocolate.
Shopping: There was a tiny Marc by Marc Jacobs store around Bleeker Street (and by tiny I mean very, very tiny!) with all of the specialty items or stuff on sale. Everything was über cheap =)! Watch out for sharp elbows poking around and grab what you want even if you’re not sure you want it, just in case. I bought a basketweave tote in yellow for only $19; I already have an outfit planned for it, and it is perfect for school, shopping, or just lugging around a bunch of stuff! (the red tote isn’t shown). Later on, we explored little these street markets with adorable dresses, bags, jewelry, & sunglasses on display for pretty reasonable prices. Attempts at bargaining were made, flirty Starbucks guys with free samples took pictures of us, contemplation of buying things, were all part of our little adventure. My second purchase of the day was a black bag similar to the Balenciaga City bag – I love it! I’ve been eyeing it for quite some time, but wasn’t willing to part with the thousand something dollars.

just remember to keep writing for yourself, if you don’t you’ll get bogged down in all the necessary noise! What’s not to love about a day that involves bargain buys and cute boys taking your picture?

It sounds like you had a great time and you returned home with some fantastic purchases!
New York is a glamorous mystery to me. I’ve never been but I think, over time, a kind of romanticized view of what it must be like there has formed in my brain from everything I’ve seen and heard about it. I hope if I never get the chance to visit that I won’t be disappointed.

I hate hate hate hate what Marc has done to bleecker street and I hate the gag gift shop where everyone thinks they’re getting a good deal on crap that cost him a dollar to make! I think there are much better things to spend 19 bucks on that aren’t crappy or total label whoredom.
