Went to the Isamaya launch party in L.A. last night to celebrate Ffrench’s second drop, Wild Star, a launch so distinctly Isamaya yet completely different from Industrial. It was literally a different world: one step past glittering, larger-than-life lips and you’ve entered into the world of rhinestone-studded rodeo queens. Americana kitsch came to life after dark as Saddle Ranch transformed into a smoky scene of glitz, glamour, and gilded wilderness. And the collection! I haven’t been this excited about any makeup brand since Byredo’s foray into cosmetics. (It’s no coincidence that Ffrench served as the Creative Director then.) Just when I thought Isamaya couldn’t possibly top her rubber and latex debut, she pulls up with a full cowgirl fantasy. The formulas are just as decadent as the packaging, divine without but also full of hyperbole. I can’t wait to review it soon.
But while I gather my thoughts on Wild Star, here’s what I wore: a menswear-inspired suit (Forever blazer and Favorite trousers by Djerf Avenue, my go-tos whenever I don’t know what to wear), the most incredible bustier, this reflective 3M curb chain collar I’ve been waiting over a year for the right night out to wear (it’s by Unnamed, an indie brand based in New York), these Tony Biancos (but in black), and because I can’t resist a good theme: that Alexander Wang rhinestone bag.
