We all have those lazy Sundays. Or weekends, or weekdays, the list goes on. And we are perfectly entitled to those days – after all, we do deserve a break from dressing up in stilettos and lovely skirts all the time. Even if we are the girliest of girls who live for frills and petticoats, we can still be inflicted with laziness or tiredness that tells us to reach for the tracksuit. But resist! Save those sweats for yoga!
{look no. 1}
Inspired by Philip Lim’s construction, Derek Lam’s color palette, & the ever fashionable Betty. Going for a grunge-chic look is the ultimate way to achieve comfort whilst looking fashionable. Pair loose & unfitted tops or dresses with tights or leggings. I particularly love this outfit; this dress could have just been a simple oversized tee-shirt dress – but with a few pleats and large pockets, these tiny details add interest to an otherwise boring top. Wearing over black opaque tights is instantly slimming (a plus for ever girl!). As for shoes, boots become your best friend. Flat, wedge, or heels, any type of boot provides more comfort (and warmth!) than the usual pump. This particular outfit calls for an ankle bootie; since the dress is baggy and quite long, the pairing of black heels with black tights give the appearance of mile long legs. To finish off the outfit, a beanie is the icing to the grunge-chic look and adequately covers any unwanted bumps in your bed-hair. Use some serum, run it through your locks, tousle it a bit, and anyone can fake the super-chic Parisian sex-hair look! Grab a bag, apply a bit of gloss, and voila! Comfort and fashion can mix, darlings.

To give the faux impression that you really care about your appearance despite the fact that you could care less that particular day is to embrace a trend! Plaid, flannel shirts are the simplest way to go about this; they’re everywhere and completely trendy. To give it less of a lumberjack look circa the 90s and a more feminine twist, look for fitted button ups. Fold the sleeves so they become three-quarter length, and tuck the top into a pair of high waisted, black skinny jeans (once again, very slimming and elongating for the legs!). Pairing it with ankle booties instead of flat boots also feminizes the overall ensemble; you could risk looking a bit more lumberjack than you intended with flat, leather boots.

{style tips.}
- A quick coat of delicious or colorful gloss before you leave the house can be a great pick-me-up. It is much easier to apply than lipstick (so if you really are disoriented that day and apply out of the line, it’s easily fixable with a quick wipe!) Lipgloss gives the impression that you do care about your appearance (even on your laziest of days), since you took the time to beautify yourself. Yummy scents from Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Collection or Philosophy are cheap enough to stock up on so you can rotate the scents to your liking.
- A spritz of perfume will definitely help your with your mood! Wearing your favorite, most provocative scent makes you feel a bit more glamorous and sexy even if you’re just dressed in the simplest combination of a tee-shirt and jeans. Fruity scents have the ability to energize you throughout the day with summery whiffs of orange, coconut, what have you. Once again, Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Collection of delicious little lotions and body splashes can help immensely!
- Your hair doesn’t necessarily have to be done to perfection to look fashionable. Look to icons like Carine Roitfeld and blogger Rumi Neeley; that beachy, oh-look-i-just-woke-up hair is incredibly sexy and fashionable. It’s easily achieved, too. Wash your hair the night before. If you have naturally wavy hair, sleep with your hair damp, and in the morning, add a bit of mousse to hold the curls. If you have straighter hair, pull damp hair in a messy bun, and add mousse in the morning. (These are tested by yours truly; and both work quite well!)
- This is the perfect time to bring elements of trends into your outfits!

lately i’ve been going with look number 1 because i’m too scared to wear my old jeans for fear i may find them tight haha:D gaining some pounds can be depressing… but whether one puts on a few pounds or not, oversized tops + tights are a girls best friend:) i think i ought to start going with look #2… love the bags by the way:)

Thanks for the great tips! A little can still go a long way on those days where you just don’t feel like trying. Sometimes, effortless looks even better than an overly put-together look! Love the first outfit’s colors and silhouette – it was cool in gr. 5 and cool again now!

I’m always amused by hair advice that includes a “messy bun.” Or the words “just throw it in a ponytail” or anything else that I guess is very easy for people with sufficiently long hair. Alas, I am not one of them!
