I feel guilty for almost glazing over Missoni, dismissing it for not being nearly as exciting—whatever that means—as other major names in the fashion game. But once the pretense is lifted and I’m seeing the collection through the eyes of a regular person who just loves clothes, Missoni delivers the precise looks I want to be wearing. However predictable, the silhouettes are beautiful; the iconic zigzag pattern continues to work overtime… and yet, all of it works. Consistently, forever, always.
If other houses aspire to design fantasies, Missoni creates to inspire women to tap into their most vibrant, extroverted self. (You know the one: the version of you that slips out only when you’re on a holiday thousands of miles from home.) It’s a task no less extraordinary or difficult, and really, there is no comparison. Fashion exists to affect emotion, sensation, desire; Missoni evokes your worldliest self. It transports you. Leaves you dreaming of your next adventure across the globe.
I digress. I adore this collection. The color, the joy, and the quiet sensuality that Italians just get. I mean: that red dress! The cherry boots with the robe! It’s all just divine.
