Mondays are fine.
True, I’m writing this from home because yes, this is my day off—but ask me on any other day and my answer will be the same:
Mondays are fine. It’s all about attitude.
A large part of it comes from keeping a regimented schedule. My day-to-day is pretty similar: Wake up at 7:30 a.m., work (whether that’s in an office Monday through Friday or at home), rehearse, read, try to fall asleep before 2 a.m. When you treat each day as a new one and set your mind to getting sh*t done, you get sh*t done. The mantra is simple:
Make money. Make beauty. Make sense. It’s a constant reminder of why I do what I do, so that come Monday morning, I look forward to going into the office and getting on my grind. And while there are ways to beat the Monday blues, it’s even better to approach it logically; i.e.: with this reminder.
- MAKE MONEY. Love the career you create for yourself; it makes waking up on Monday mornings that much easier. If, however your job isn’t where you want to be, remind yourself that it’s your bread-and-butter until you land the one you want. It’s simple: Money pays the bills. It can also support your side hustle until you can make it your full-time thing.
- MAKE BEAUTY. Bring intention into your work. Whether it’s finding the perfect campaign hashtag or making a customer’s day that much better, find the beauty in what you do. Then, set a goal to create. Grab a notebook and write. Take a selfie. Film a makeup tutorial. Blog. Cook at home instead of eating out. Call your aunt or grandma or best friend. Share a skill. Giving something—anything—is how you remind yourself to keep going, Monday morning or not.
- MAKE SENSE. Use your Monday to learn at least one new thing. Make sense of it. Grow. If you don’t love your Monday mornings now (because of your job du jour or otherwise), bettering yourself is the key to making sh*t happen.
