There’s a lot of pressure riding on writing (and publishing) the first post of a new year. It has to be perfect: witty, to show you’re smart but not too serious; reflective, but not navel-gazing; and forward-thinking, sans the cheese that comes with aiming for inspirational (instead of aspirational).
For your information, I have yet to come up with the perfect first blog post.
Attempts on the off-line front have been more successful. I’m happy to report that I’ve been taking baby steps towards achieving my 2016 resolutions on a day-to-day basis. I’ve read one passage from Anaïs Nin’s diary (volume one) per day; incorporated a small workout everyday thus far; deep-cleaned my entire wardrobe (if you’ve been following me on Snapchat at kimberlypearlco, you’ll have seen a play-by-play of the saga); and started off the New Year with a delicious vegan meal. It might sound like I’m patting myself on the back, and I am: I’m trying to remind myself of the good things I’ve done so far to keep myself going.
As someone wise once said: One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.
. . .

I’m wearing Essie’s “Topless & Barefoot” right now. SUCH a staple, I’m on my third bottle. xx
