I saw this Ralph Lauren Collection Hand-Sewn Clutch on Bag Snob and kind of teared up.
No, not kidding (but I totally am. I only cry over Disney films if you must know). I did swoon though, just to set the record straight. I get emotional over anything aesthetically pleasing to the eye…
It’s ironic that classic designs have become a breath of fresh air; given the past few seasons, seeing something so simple, so timeless, emerge from a muddle of studded castoffs and neon things truly is a beautiful thing to behold. Ralph Lauren has always grasped the concept of classic, American chic, but has always flown under the radar with its bags. This collection, however, is to-die-for.
The deep, han purple is perhaps its most striking feature. The shade is unconventional: decadent, royal and seemingly exclusive; the lush suede only adds to depth of the color. The richness of the color is juxtaposed by a clean, classic silhouette and detailed only by the engraved, Art Deco-inspired clasp. With the silver hardware as its focal point, the clutch humble enough for even the most basic of outfits—black skinnies, tank, sunglasses, grab-the-clutch-and-go. Understated enough for day, luxe enough for an evening out. It’s sort of high-impact in the most unpretentious way possible—proof that color and detail are key, and simplicity often speaks far more than any sort of current trend.
It’s gorgeous.
