How fresh for Salvatore Ferragamo! I’ve always been partial to the design house’s autumnal collections, but this year seems like more than just another seasonal shift. Casting may be a factor—new faces, diverse faces, make all the difference—yet credit must be given where it’s due. This ready-to-wear presentation is proof that a creative transition is in motion, and it’s everything the brand needs for a revival.
Exceptional craftsmanship is always a given; you’ll always find beautiful tailoring at Ferragamo. This exploration of more relaxed energy though, is what’s unexpected, and it’s enough to make an onlooker (yours truly, scrolling through photos in a sweatsuit) gasp in delight. The color theme alone is exquisite—rich, deliberate, timeless—but the shapes! The silhouettes! Literal robes and half-zipped boots; gorgeous wide-leg trousers and oversized (empty) totes: the play with proportions never loses groundedness, and when combined with sublime styling, the effect is effortless.
