One of my favorite fragrance pieces I’ve yet worked on is finally live on Editorialist—and it’s as much a labor of love as it is pure indulgence. In it are perfumes I found years ago and kept filed away in the back of my mind just in case (and who knew that day would come? Manifestation manifested, but back when it was simply the law of attraction). Others are more recent discoveries I became eager to share. Baccarat Route 540, for example, I first smelled in Paris. When it suddenly became omnipresent, the Extrait became my little secret. Tom Ford Café Rose landed at my doorstep a few weeks prior to launch and I knew just by the description that it would be a dirtier, far less ubiquitous alternative to a YSL Libre: bittersweet, assured, and inspired by two iconographies of sensuality. (Coffee and roses.)
Below is just a glimpse of the list; full, voluble thoughts can be read here.
Perhaps I’ll share my personal picks soon. It’s something I refrain from when curating as an editor—although if you’re keen on distilling my preferences, certain perfumes keep making their way into my guides. They’re quite indicative of the notes I gravitate toward: far from unique, but also an arm’s length away from what most want when on the hunt for sexy perfumes.
If you’re curious, let me know.
