I love knitwear. (Turtlenecks, especially; the cozier the better.) But come Friday night when it’s your girl’s birthday dinner and you want to show up in something a little more sexy than sensible, you’ve got to get creative.
This turtleneck is next-level in that it combines all of my favorite elements. It has a weighty, chunky knit; a cropped length that nips right at the waist; a thick, turned-down collar; and that one extra something we crave in all our clothing. The extra-long armhole gives a girl options: it can be layered over another top for added texture, worn with a simple bandeau bra underneath, or if you’re feeling especially adventurous, worn sans bra for a hint of skin. The way the armhole was knit is genius, actually. There’s zero chance of an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction. (Bless you, Zara.)
I kept the rest of the look simple to balance everything out, pairing the side-slit turtleneck with super high-waisted skinnies (by BDG, which is my favorite make of affordable denim with perfect fit) and classic pumps. To further tone things down, I kept the beauty side of things minimal: no other makeup except mascara, and hair was worn sraight down.
Cheers to the weekend, babes. How was your Friday night?
