If you asked me choose between the artistic and brilliantly embellished (Lacroix, Schiaparelli) and the simple reworking of classic silhouettes (McCartney, Celine)—not even at gunpoint—I’d pick the designer over the artist any day. Does this make me simple-minded? Perhaps. Boring? I say practical. I’m not nearly as liberal in my taste in fashion as I am in my political leanings.
That said, it’s no secret I’m a Democrat with a conservative wardrobe (in color, not in hemlines I might add). As a firm believer in having some sort of uniform, I’m the first to say it’s indicative of having formed—and understood the essence of—personal style. The key is in the accessories, because it’s those unique touches—those nonpareil—that make yours yours, and mine, mine. A stack of handmade rings, a gorgeous bag in the crook of your arm, or a peek of a Marlies Dekkers bra.
In basics we trust; in accessories we love.

Wonderfuply written words of wisdom. SIMPLICITY IS KEY! I am definitely a minimalist in my fashion. Love Celine, by the way.
