I still haven’t put away the stack I amassed after my most bookish weekend yet—in part because I haven’t a shelf to spare (or any surface area, for that matter), but mainly because I still can’t fathom what I was able to find. (You’ll absolutely catch me staring at said stack with utter incredulity; I have little shame.) Half came from the Printed Matter Art Book Fair, where I became enamored with dmp editions, a Taiwanese-based bookmaker that highlights the island’s artists, and pois é, an L.A.-based publisher that finds—and marries—poetry in the verbal and visual. Then, to the Atelier Éditions showroom I went for the opening night of “TSUNDOKU: On Collecting Books,” an exhibit that not only spoke to my soul, but featured Book/Shop: a faraway favorite, someday pilgrimage.
You would not believe what I nearly missed. If not for my (obsessive) eagle eye…
. . .
