In the spirit of never-ending sangria and stretchy pants, a few things I’m grateful for:
- Six-dollar notebooks at Barnes & Noble, which I buy in bulk. I usually have one with me at all times—I need something bound to organize all my compulsive note-taking and journaling needs—should the urge to write arise. There’s nothing more satisfying than pen and paper… save the feeling of accomplishment when filling up an entire book.
- Pocket. Yes, you can read everything on the Internet… just later. Possibly one of the best (and one of my most used) apps in existence, second only to Google Maps (a lifesaver) and rivaling Instagram (also a lifesaver), Pocket’s kind of like clipping all of your favorite articles in one little, virtual binder.
- Stephen King’s On Writing. Confession: I’ve never read any King. Ever. Nor have I seen any movie remake of his best-selling classic. But if there’s one thing by him to read—and one I highly recommend—it’s his memoir-slash-guidebook on writing.
- Good friends. Some people spend an entire lifetime searching for their soul mates; I’ve found mine. A whole clan actually—I’m lucky—I can call family. Life’s too short not to play favorites, so when it brings you good people, you keep them forever.
Happy Thanksgiving.
