The holiday 2022 wishlist, luxury edition.
Like everyone else, Wednesday has been a source of mood and style inspiration. Jenna Ortega’s portrayal of our favorite morbid goth girl has flooded our feeds, her all-black ensembles (characterized by a statement neckline and punctuated with chunky black shoes—Prada Monoliths, to be exact) a welcome shift from the post-2020 burst of print and color. Our unblinking heroine would never be caught in a lacy number this form-fitting or a dress with a slit yea high, but Ortega would (and was, for a press appearance). I have nowhere to wear this but I’m convinced I need it… perhaps to debut on TikTok with the iconic choreography from the school dance?
No words are needed for this set. It’s entirely out of budget, yet I’m deluded enough to think that some stroke of luck might put this into my possession. Wishful thinking or lottery are my best bets; I’ll keep you posted.
I’ve been a Bottega intrecciato fan even before I understood the concept of labels. I must have been seven or so, visiting Taiwan when I first laid on eyes on the woven leather. My aunt had a giant mushroomy taupe tote that she slung around during the duration of our trip and it wasn’t until much later that I realized it was a Bottega—and I’ve had my heart set on one ever since.
Decadent chocolate or classic black leather Jodie would be the obvious choice but given my recent propensity for something more memorable: what could be more iconic than the house’s denim-printed leather. which made quite the splash on the F/W 2022 runway?
Speaking of iconic dancefloor scenes: this compendium is the stuff of childhood and teenage dreams. Cinema’s most acclaimed scenes are celebrated in print, in perpetuity—but not before an introduction by the queen herself, Cher.
I’ve had Hakuhodo brushes on my (mental) wishlist for at least a decade now. I’m a paint-by-fingers kind of girl but I’d like to imagine myself as a woman sophisticated enough to own these state-of-the-art tools. Would my blush blend better, and my eyeshadow look more intentional? Absolutely—but for now, I’m perfectly comfortable with my appendages (and the odd complimentary brush-with-palette).
. . .
