I understand that this is wildly important given that it’s officially spring and I should be loving/writing obsessively about corals and bright pinks and neon oranges. But the heart wants what the heart wants, and given that I have a soft spot for back-to-school shopping sprees and holiday lattes, it’s no wonder my mind is still set in winter gear. It’s always reassuring that my heart lies where my head is. Or vice versa?
Come back to me in October and I’ll be whining over lost days poolside and nibbling on croissants in outdoor cafes.
I’ve always been enamored with what I believe is the ultimate, no-fail combination of instant glamour (and sex appeal): smoky eyes and glossy red pout paired with a little black dress. and freshly manicured, red nails. It’s classic, and perhaps a little predictable—but what can I say? I’ve accepted my stubborn approach to all the latest rages (an Aries attribute, I think) and would much rather embrace a trend on my own terms than hop on a bandwagon. Even if that means I’m a few years late (fashionably late is always in fashion!).
Talk about perfection. Abbey Lee Kershaw plays the part of the Alfred Hitchcock heroine with unbelievable aptitude. She portrays the demure but vixen, sex-on-heels woman. I want Veronica Lake hair! And knee-length black dresses! And (Tom Ford’s) cat-eye eye glasses! And delicate gold chain dripping from my neck!
Blame the consumerist society from which I was bred.
In the ideal world I’d dress like those campaign shots every other day. Practicality, of course, knocks me on the head—give me a few years (when I’m out of school) and you’ll never be able to pull me out of this look in the fall/winter months.
My attempt at emulating the Tom Ford Spring 2011 Eyewear campaign, with a pair of 3.1 Phillip Lim’s instead:

I absolutely adore your specs & am a firm believer that girls with glasses are indeed sexier. I almost never take mine off anymore.

I adore the frames. I think a lot of guys and girls look more appealing with glasses.
