I’ll admit: Trussardi wasn’t on my radar until this season. Newfound interest piqued only because of Serhat Isik and Benjamin Huseby’s appointment as creative directors of the Milanese heritage house. For Fall RTW, classic wardrobe staples are made subversive with the design duo’s touch—and it’s exceptionally done without losing the integrity of its origins. Maintaining an element of simplicity while going out of the box is no easy feat, I imagine, but here, Isik and Huseby have mastered the art of transitioning Old World dormancy into a new era that reflects reality.
Modernity in design is brought to life by the casting: a notable and memorable decision in a sea of sameness. A few years ago these models wouldn’t have been walking down the runway together, but here they are now. Finally.
