Inspired by the Harper’s Bazaar “What’s In, What’s Out” feature at the end of the magazine, I’ve decided to snitch the idea—but with a twist of course. Surely you know me well enough by now that I would never dictate, in the fashion/trend- sense, what is supposedly “in” and “out”. Taste and style is unique—it is simply a matter of personal aesthetics and perspective. Should we all take to hear the “ins” and “outs” then the world would be one large mass of much-too-similar drones. And that, my dears, would be a sign of the apocalypse.
Instead I take a different approach: my personal “ins” (similar to my now-retired “Things I Love Thursday” feature), obsessions, etc. of the moment (the hour, the day, the week, the month, etc.—it all depends on my mood of course) and the “outs” (a mild form that allows me to vent! It’s healthy to do so on occasion, I assure you.)
what’s {IN}
- ELLE‘s September issue! One look at the cover and I know it is one of their best issues yet.
- Blogging for POP Magazine makes me feel quite official; do check out my latest post, titled Unwritten!
- Currently inspired by these holy grail blogs: Caroline’s Mode, Tarutuomi, Swank Heights, Sea of Shoes, Blushing Ambition, Lollipop26 Writes, and Living Doll. I check them obsessively to the point of unhealthy obsessively (or is there even a difference?).
- Olivia Palermo; I absolutely adore her style. I think I would fall into criminal methods to own her entire wardrobe. Imagine!
- Watching makeup gurus’ tutorials and haul videos on Youtube! My favorites are Laura of Lollipop26 (I adore her style, her makeup, and her British accent!) and Richie Nickel of What Style is to Nickel!
- Black eyeliner, smokey brown/forest green eyes, and MAC lipsticks with a mauve undertone. My favorite and signature makeup look on the occasion that I do wear makeup.
- The Twilight series. I have (rather lately) succumbed to the entire world’s fanaticism with the saga. I must admit that I do find Robert Pattinson’s bad boy meets grunge look rather sexy, Taylor Lautner adorably sexy, and the rest of the Cullen boys damn attractive. Not a fan of the books (as they are hardly literary masterpieces), but the movie was quite fun. Am I looking forward to New Moon? Y e s would be an understatement.
- Zone Perfect Dark chocolate nutrition bars are the most delicious things e v e r ! They are my [healthy] guilty pleasure of choice whether after dance or if I am simply too lazy to make lunch (it requires going up the stairs).
- Leaving my hair in its natural state. A.k.a. and unpredictable mass of waves whose magnitude of kink-age depends upon the weather’s calling. I quite like the messy, bed-hair look, I must admit. And I happen to be too lazy in the summer to do anything to my hair.
- [Virgin] Strawberry Dacquiri’s during the heat waves are the most perfect alternative to plain, boring old water. (The only illegal act I’ve ever committed was jaywalking.)
- Hellooooo, s e n i o r y e a r ! I’ve only been waiting for graduation my whole life, so by golly, I’d say it’s time.
- Football season! It truly is the most exciting (and fun!) season for dance team, so hurrah for that! B u t I’m not too keen on having “On Wisconsin” run through my head endlessly without mercy.
what’s {OUT}
- Still waiting for my two Chickdowntown prizes I won weeks ago (one from Le Flassh, the other from Style du Jour). I do hope they arrive soon so that I can stop my c h i l d i s h antics in checking my front steps for any packages at five p.m. every day! (: (My dearest mum laughs at me every time she catches me peeking out the windows of our front door.)
- I am rather frustrated when removing glitter nail polish—the task is nearly impossible! (Note to self: Avoid all glitter nail polish, regardless of how adorable a thin stripe of it looks on a French manicure.)
- School starts in less than a week’s time. J-O-Y. Let the college applications and SAT stress and workload begin.
What are your “in’s” and “outs” for the month? Spill, darlings!
bisous,
La C.
P.S.: It would have been MJ’s 51st birthday today; long live the king of pop and dance!

-smiles in happiness because its my senior year too!- then -groans in despair because school {thus college applications and actual work} are going to start in less than 48 hours-
And yay to football season!! Though I’m more excited for the NFL =) But this year I think I’m going to try and tap into my school spirit. I have been contemplating school mascot for the heck of it =)
My ins & outs
ins: swim season starting in sept again, fun times spent with school friends, my hopeful license!, getting an itouch once I get around to it, spending my birthday gift certificates, and finally getting back my “bookworm” tendencies! {i’m a nerd, its all good}
outs: school starting, annoying snobs/two faced bitches i will have to deal with in school, ap chem & calc-even if my teachers are great, the end of summer =(, andd college applications. I do not like rejection, I fear it wholeheartedly.
Kelsey says
Can I just tell you that New Moon was filmed at my mom’s school? True story. She came home from work one day saying “That Robert Pattinson. He’s really something.”
That’s the beautiful and tough part of living in Vancouver — they’re filming the third installment right now and everyone’s got Pattinson sightings, and I’ll I’ve seen is Ashley Greene.

The link turned out wonky in my comment above — that was me (from the Anthology) 😉
