I’m feeling particularly nostalgic as of late (and on what used to be #ThrowbackThursday for all of us millennials, no less). Back in the day, I used to write these “What’s In, What’s Out” type of lists, inspired by the Harper’s Bazaar vertical—and now, the unsolicited ins-and-outs have resurfaced as a TikTok trend. Not one to be left out of the (micro and/or fleeting) social zeitgeist, here I am jumping back on the bandwagon, writing my list on a blog no one reads instead of posting it on the clock app.
In true Gen Y form.
In
- Cappuccinos
- Afternoon naps
- Kitten heels
- Blush—a lot of it
- Tiny tops, baggy bottoms
- Tangerine, the color
- Everything from Mirror Palais, Fait Par Foutch, and Orseund Iris
- This yummy skin invisible blurring balm
- Splurging on September issues from imported magazines, because international issues are superior to most U.S. titles
- Heady perfumes, even at home
- Ankle-grazing hemlines
Out
- Iced anything
- Sleeping in
- Stilettos
- Mascara—none of it
- Skinny jeans (bless Gen Z)
- Baby blues (for now; pastels are a warm-weather palette for me)
- Dupe culture
- Concealer
- Spending an embarrassing amount of money on the aforementioned September issues, even though international magazines are superior to their U.S. counterparts
- Creamy, figgy fragrances (another summer thing)
- Minis (this skort is the exception)
. . .
xx
