Swapped out the high-waist skinnies for a quick meeting and advertising presentation and slipped into my go-to Topshop jersey skirt (it’s double-layered and therefore incredibly comfortable and substantial—read: appropriate—for business/casual work settings and nights out) and favorite pumps. We’ll call this another basic, go-to uniform of mine: silk and chiffon blouses with a high-waist pencil skirt for occasions that require a more traditionally feminine look (or if I’m feeling particularly femme that day, who knows). It’s classic, comfortable, easy. And flattering too, might I add: I firmly believe that simple silhouettes will always look best on a woman as they showcase her without directing the attention elsewhere (i.e., the clothes) and thus detract from her presence.
In the words of Don Draper, make it simple, but significant.
