Ikea is still as magical as it was when I was six or seven years old. It’s easily one of my top 10 favorite places (both then and now) even if just for the memories and endless square footage of inspiration. Ikea was the place—is the place—of affordable attainability. No matter where or how big/small the space, Ikea brings possibility. And Swedish meatballs. And amazing desserts. So. I may or may not have spent seven hours there on Saturday. It was amazing, definitely exhausting, but another trip for the memories. It’s been years since I’ve spent that much time (let alone half a day) with my parents. And you know what? It wasn’t half bad. Granted, I lost my patience at times, but just seeing how much my parents cared about helping me make my first house a home (and how much my dad knew my aesthetic to a T) was really worth butting heads at times. I’m so, so grateful to have them, and though I’m the worst at showing them I’m forever indebted to them for giving me all that I ever needed and more, I hope to return the favor one day. Hey ma, dad—thanks for loving me. Even more thanks…"}
