I’ve been curious about ColourPop<\/a> since its launch months ago. Priced affordably at $5 – $8 (cheaper than drugstore brands these days) and supposedly of quality rival to high-end brands, the only thing that put me off, admittedly, was the packaging. It’s sleek and\u00a0minimalist, sure, but I’m more of a matte black than bright white kind of girl (think: NARS, Bobbi Brown).<\/p>\n

Totally superficial, I know.<\/p>\n

I gave in a few days ago. I’ve seen all the reviews, the incredible swatches\u2014the holographic logo imprinted in my mind\u2014but it wasn’t until I saw that it was a possible dupe for Tom Ford ‘Pussycat’ lipstick and NARS Audacious lipstick in ‘Anna,’ I succumbed. I’ve been eyeing ‘Pussycat’ for a year now, put off by the hefty $50 price tag for a beautiful, beautiful<\/em> bullet of the perfect purple-tinged pink.<\/p>\n

Turns out that ColourPop’s matte Lippie Stix in ‘Lumiere’ (created by YouTube beauty guru KathleenLights<\/a>) is less vibrant than what I was hoping for. It is, however, pretty spot on for NARS ‘Anna.’ It’s that Kylie Jenner-inspired, dusty mauve-pink: definitely not a nude, but a little bolder than your average neutral lip.<\/p>\n

As for quality, ‘Lumiere’ doesn’t fall short of rave reviews. It’s highly pigmented, for starters, and wear time is impressive. I’ve worn it for an entire afternoon and it’s\u00a0still<\/em> there. The finish, though matte, is super creamy and non-drying. I haven’t yet found an affordable matte lipstick that ticked those boxes like ColourPop has\u2014and the fact that it’s a\u00a0glorified\u00a0crayon\u00a0makes this line all the more attractive. I love a gorgeous lipstick bullet, don’t get me wrong (my love for the Tom Ford collection is proof), but when push comes to shove, I want ease of portability\u00a0and<\/em>\u00a0use. These lippie stix fit perfectly into the flattest of clutches and allow for perfect\u00a0application\u00a0sans<\/em> lip brush or lip liner.<\/p>\n

The verdict? Get it. I’m still on the hunt for a shade closer to Tom Ford’s ‘Pussycat*’ without having to commit to the splurge,\u00a0but you best believe I’ll be buying more of these lippie stix.<\/p>\n
