Take, for example, the Alexander Wang mules<\/a> I’ve been\u00a0eyeing for a little over a year now. Out by budget but now on sale (!) and there’s\u00a0only one left in my size.<\/em> When you’re sleep-deprived and boast size five feet that err on the smaller side of measurements, you, like me, will take it as a sign that it’s meant to be. You’ll even tell yourself you’ll wear open-toe mules until it snows! They’re black! It’s December 12th and\u00a0still\u00a0<\/em>60 degrees out! It’s. Meant. To. Be!<\/p>\n

When in doubt, buy the shoes<\/em>.<\/p>\n

I didn’t buy them. Anti-climactic, I know: but I’m trying to instill values, here. I have this rule where I don’t spend over $50 (yep) unless said shoes in question are (1) leather boots that can easily be re-soled and repaired as needed, and (2) for dance. Heels, though a staple in my wardrobe, are fragile things. They get scuffed, the wear, they tear: it’s the nature of the shoe, no matter how beautiful the shoe. Will I change my mind one day?\u00a0Maybe<\/em>. But that’s another story for another day, far away from now.<\/p>\n

There’s more to current one, though. I, being ever the resourceful little shopper I am, found a similar pair<\/a> over at Missguided. They’re not Alexander Wang mules, and they’re definitely missing the heel detail that makes the Wang so special, but\u00a0priced at\u00a0$51.00\u00a0(and\u00a0currently on sale (!) at 30% off), Missguided’s take on the mule is hard to pass up.<\/p>\n

I ordered one pair. White, if you’re curious, and only the white because I’m capable of exercising self-restraint when I’m sufficiently caffeinated. Said mules and I are already getting comfortable with one another; I imagine we’ll live happily ever after.<\/p>\n

(Whoever told you happy endings were only found in Disney movies and shady massage parlors was clearly a pessimist.)<\/p>\n
