My shelf of red books has become a centerpiece, and somehow (purely coincidental, or a force of nature) my coffee table has become a catch-all for red\u00a0<em>things<\/em>. (Cleo Wade&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3rfAARj\"><em>Heart Talk<\/em><\/a>;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/kimberlypearl.co\/blog\/metrograph-with-tavi-gevinson-hilton-als\/\">a playbill from Metrograph<\/a>); a favorite pair of <a href=\"https:\/\/bohincstudio.com\/\">Lara Bohinc<\/a> earrings, still in their box; a $1.99 (!) copy of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lofficielusa.com\/\"><em>L&#8217;Officiel<\/em><\/a> featuring Lana de Rey; and one of my more recent acquisitions, a little Chanel eyeshadow.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wearing red on my body isn&#8217;t enough, it seems\u2014because I&#8217;ve now adorned my eyes with it, too. For the fearless, red is pass\u00e9; a trend from at least three seasons past. But for the fearful, be open. Red can be so, so beautiful on the eyes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The gold, de-bossed double-Cs help, but it&#8217;s the shade and finish of this shadow that make it so beautiful. Chanel\u00a0<em>Desert Rouge<\/em> is just red enough to bring out the color in irises (dare I say, making my dark brown eyes look less like black holes), but deep enough to pass as a chic neutral. Blend it into a sheer wash and you get a light, gleaming wash of pink that looks natural (my lids are a little pink on their own) but strangely enough, makes everything appear a little brighter. I do recommend a good lash curler and lengthening mascara to make this work, though.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Or, perhaps it&#8217;s all in my head and I just look a little tired, possibly even a little sick. But I don&#8217;t care. It&#8217;s my birthday, they&#8217;re my eyes, and I&#8217;ll wear a little Chanel red if I feel like it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>So, from this Aries baby to all other fire-y babes out there:<\/em> Mercury retrograde or not, this is our time.
