Love.<\/strong> Bah, humbug!<\/em> Love is for cat ladies who watch Lifetime<\/em>\u00a0films all day! Love is for The Beatles! Not for rational people like ourselves. No. All you need is a sheer blouse<\/strong> (or a few).<\/p>\n

But I do like cats.<\/p>\n

And I do love love<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Two months into fall and I’ve only just resigned to adding chunky scarves and leather jackets<\/a>\u00a0over the planned ensemble du jour. Don’t get me wrong\u2014I looove<\/em>\u00a0my leather jackets, but I’m also one to be in denial of winter weather until I can barely feel my fingers and toes. So much for a long, Indian summer, yeah? And despite leaning more heavily on my purported fall\/winter wardrobe and letting the dresses fall back in line to the back of the closet, I find myself still drawn to sheer blouses.<\/p>\n

They’re signatures in my wardrobe given the immense amount of versatility presented. It’s inexplicably femme when slipped on over a bra or bandeau only (much to my mother’s chagrin; sorry mom) for a hint of of vulgarity<\/a>\u2014which I adore because it keeps things alive and interesting\u2014and tucked into a tailored pant or pencil skirt. Sheer fabrics make layering easy; camisoles beneath add minimal warmth, whereas cardigans, wraps, fur gilets and leather pieces can be piled on sans the unwanted bulk. Sheer takes you from spring to summer and all the way through winter. (Sheer blouses are also super easy to roll, chuck and pack!). In the ideal world I’d own a closet full of Equipment<\/a>\u00a0and Elizabeth & James<\/a>\u00a0blouses, but for now, stockpiling on similar numbers from H&M<\/a>, Forever 21<\/a>, and Calvin Klein<\/a>\u00a0make me happy.<\/p>\n

Now, if you’re neither inclined toward my personal taste nor of the practical camp\u2014i.e.<\/em>, you’re a true fashionista type\u2014I’ll have you know that Vera Wang (et. al.<\/em>) have been keeping the sheer trend alive and ongoing. You’ll be chic and on point in sheer\u2014re you convinced yet?<\/p>\n
