Proenza Schouler<\/strong><\/a> is proof that big\u2014and I mean, big<\/em>\u2014bags are back in business<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Even better? Make it a double: one giant hobo (for your laptop, your bullet journal, the volume of Proust\u00a0<\/em>you’ve carried around for years, a change of clothes, the kitchen sink) and the other, your hand<\/em>bag (chosen for the look and meant to house the daintier things: spare mask, hand cream<\/a>, wallet, a brooch to spruce up your turtleneck from day to night perhaps?). Micro minis (the bag<\/a>, not<\/em> the Miu Miu skirt<\/a> seen ’round the world) have had their moment, but we are\u00a0women<\/em> with\u00a0things<\/em>, and lots of them.<\/p>\n

It’s a sign that the city is back again. Life in motion welcomes the return of the bag lady.<\/p>\n

… but back to the collection. Proenza is reliable: always clean, cool, and precise with elongating silhouettes and a pared-back palette. Similar to my other favorite NYFW collections<\/a>, though, are the accent colors: amongst neutrals are canary yellow, red, and either a candied grape or cornflower blue. Am I sensing a trend, or is this confirmation bias at play? Whatever the case, it’s a refreshing change of pace from pastels and brights (cyber green and sporty pink, I’m looking at you), and just so happens to be among my favorite shades, too.<\/p>\n

Structure and ease exist in harmony here. Suiting is defined at the shoulders and waist, then made for movement everywhere else. Gowns are no less magnificent; now, you can run, sit, sleep in them. Transitioning out of loungewear and back to whatever you make of normalcy is made effortless: this is a collection that’s mindful of all the changes (kind to body, versatile with occasion) and cocoons you in comfort as you head out into the world.<\/p>\n
