I was lucky enough to attend And Such<\/a>‘s press preview earlier this week, and while it’s cooler to appear indifferent, it’s impossible not<\/em> to be excited when anyone finds me relevant enough to share their hard work\u2014and even more so when that final presentation is done exceptionally well. Working brand-side and press-adjacent has given me perspective of both sides, and what a pleasure it was to discover a network of female-founded and independent brands through their eyes. The roster is tight and well-edited: proof that their perspective is clear and their intention, grounded.<\/p>\n

Maketh Thou The Affirm<\/em> Denim-Effect Leather Jacket<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n

Maketh Thou<\/a>, founded just last year, specializes in leather apparel. This collection highlights the exploration (and perfection) of a hand-printed denim effect reminiscent of Matthieu Blazy\u2019s trompe l\u2019oeil denim for Bottega Veneta, and it is truly something<\/em> in person. There are a few variations in “wash:” light denim, Carolina blue, and an anthracite-black, all of which suit their respective styles.<\/p>\n

Montserrat Messeguer Cintur\u00f3n<\/em> Skinny Western<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n

I have no doubt that Montserrat Messeguer<\/a>‘s cowboy boots were the star of the show, but I’m completely enamored by the softness of the cropped Charro sweat set<\/a> and these thin leather belts that offer the simplicity of Khaite with desert charm. The details, be it the woven pattern decorating the seams of the knits or embroidery adorning each boot, are worth nothing: every part is a celebration of the designer’s Mexican heritage.<\/p>\n

Everything Marta Mae Freedman touches is good as gold (or green, rather), and Angel Therapy is no exception. Featured is a candle collaboration that’s equal parts fairy and whims-core\u2014exactly what you’d expect from the brand. Gifted was a flower baggie: proof that you’ve made it in L.A.<\/p>\n

I’ve been using Dieux skincare<\/a> since the brand’s launch and like everyone else with oilier skin, eagerly awaited the coming of their second moisturizer, Air Angel<\/a>. Part gel, part cream, it’s meant to impart light hydration that gives you the dewiness you desire with the weightlessness of a cloud.<\/p>\n
