I&#8217;m not one to travel for fireworks but with a view like this\u2014of the most beautiful skyline in the world and &#8220;Empire State of Mind&#8221; playing\u2014it&#8217;s impossible not to find magic in the red, white, and blue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It has nothing to do with the Fourth, of course. Nothing could be happening across the Hudson and still, New York City would take my breath away every time. (Usually, it&#8217;s the steamy sewage and hot asphalt stopping me in my tracks but even so, I wouldn&#8217;t trade it for anything in the world.) And every time, I wonder why I moved so far.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I&#8217;ll remember the moment I make my way out of LAX, of course.
