1. A rare afternoon at Community Goods<\/a> confirmed the infamous queues are,<\/em> in fact, real. I’ve only gone early in the mornings when I’m one of two, maybe three people\u2014so to see such fanfare (with no sign of waning interest, even after all these years) was quite the spectacle. Few things are worth that kind of wait, but if you have the time and enjoy people watching, it’s certainly an experience. I’m not sure if I’d go so far as to say that their menu is worth the line around the block (I’ve only had their signature vanilla bean latte)\u2014but it\u00a0is<\/em> really good.<\/p>\n

2. Sebastian Professional<\/a> kindly invited me for an appointment at The Harlot salon<\/a>, where I got\u2014without hyperbole\u2014the textured, layered look of my dreams. What a treat it was to be in Viper’s<\/a> chair, a hair artist who cuts and styles with rare, tender precision. Not a single product was used and still, my waves maintained both their shape and volume. It was a miracle with my fine 2A hair, which typically demands product to hold\u2014proof that the magic is in the cut.<\/p>\n

3. Spencer’s Spa<\/a> expanded its WeHo location, and it’s as beautiful as the residential compound turned L.A. hideaway. Book with Maddi if you can; I’ve seen her twice now, and loved my facials with her.<\/p>\n

4. I, like everyone else in media and fashion, have been ga-ga over Matthieu Blazy<\/a>‘s work at Chanel. But I didn’t even attempt to queue at any boutique; I’m allergic to frenzy, and I’m no VIC\u2014which I knew would only further diminish my chances of finding anything amongst the madness. (I’m incredibly realistic; the last Chanel bag I bought was in 2018.)<\/p>\n

I tried two weeks later. Unfortunately, nothing (in my shoe size, or handbags I wanted) remained. C’est la vie! What is meant to be mine, will be.<\/p>\n

5. … but I\u00a0did<\/em> manage to secure a bag I’d been hoping for! Not from Blazy’s first collection, alas, but still: a mini Chanel 25 in chocolate leather with silver\u00a0<\/em>hardware! Happy early birthday to me.<\/p>\n
