I know there are two Roitfelds in the photograph. Two, fabulous, black-wearing, French\u00a0je ne sais quoi<\/em>\u00a0possessing Roitfelds. But let\u2019s forget the Carine, if possible, and her\u00a0au revoir<\/em>\u00a0to her decade-long stint as editor at French Vogue. Just for a second\u2014I promise you.<\/p>\n

Look at Julia, s\u2018il vous pla\u00eet<\/em>. Doesn\u2019t she look like quite the French sexpot? In a candid shot?! I hardly look anything close to decent in those dreaded pap shots, nonetheless resemble a brunette resurrection of Brigitte Bardot.\u00a0Le sigh<\/em>. If only.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll analyze this shot carefully.\u00a0Moleskines<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Filofaxes<\/a>\u00a0out,\u00a0mes ch\u00e9ries<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Julia wears black<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

She is not wearing\u00a0pink<\/a>, or orange, or chartreuse. She is wearing black. It is the basic of any and all wardrobes, symbolizing the classic, the sophisticated, the mysterious, the seductive.\u00a0Qualities possessed by every woman, however unbeknownst to her<\/strong>. I\u2019ve read numerous articles citing that\u00a0black and red are what attract the male species<\/strong>\u00a0like bees to honey. One of which was from\u00a0Cosmopolitan<\/em><\/a>. And if you don\u2019t believe the female\u2019s Bible of all things sex-related, let me tell you from personal experience. Those. Colors. Do. Work.<\/p>\n

Three-quarter length sleeves<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Note the length of her top. In my opinion, the chicest and most sophisticated of cuts a shirt can come in, and since Mademoiselle Roitfeld looks good wearing it, my theory has been validated.\u00a0There\u2019s something demure about the length<\/strong>; it\u2019s modest, yet reveals just enough of the forearm for a hint of skin, and nothing too much.<\/p>\n

Side bangs of which to peek seductively through<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A fringe not only adds style to your hair without having to much, but it also hides a larger forehead quite well (another reason why I\u2019ve been loyal to this style for years!). Ooh, the\u00a0mystery\u00a0<\/em>of the one-eyed gaze.<\/p>\n

Brigitte Bardot hair<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The half-up half-down hair you wore as a little girl will do wonders for you as a woman! I\u2019ve read (oui<\/em>, I\u2019m citing\u00a0Cosmopolitan\u2014<\/a><\/em>again) that men like this style best. Mid-length to long, luscious locks are key; pulling a few pieces back emphasizes the angles of your jaw and cheekbones. But the key too looking less grade school and more Bardot, however, is\u2026<\/p>\n

Perfectly imperfect hair<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I despise perfectly done hair. Sure, Olivia Palermo looks lovely, but it\u2019s not to my taste. We want\u00a0je ne sais quoi<\/em>.\u00a0Effortless<\/strong>. Not prim and prissy and perfect.\u00a0The secret?<\/strong>\u00a0Tease the crown and sides of your hair, and comb through once to smooth it out (Amy Winehouse\u2019s beehive<\/a>\u00a0is not the look, here). Spritz with hairspray. Pull 1-2 inch pieces from both sides of your face, poof it a bit, and bobby pin those babies down. Pull a few pieces out to frame your face, muss it up a bit.\u00a0E<\/em>t voil\u00e0!<\/em>\u00a0Brigitte Bardot you are.<\/p>\n

Smoldering eyes and natural lips<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We want enough to bring out your features without being overwhelming. Or a cake face. Use a\u00a0mineral foundation<\/a>\u00a0for that\u00a0au naturel<\/em>, dewy skin.\u00a0Bronzer<\/strong>\u00a0in the cheekbones and the tiniest bit of\u00a0NARS Madly<\/a>\u00a0blusher on the cheeks \u2013 not the apples, but sweeping upwards!\u00a0Black liner, smudged nonchalantly<\/strong>, and winged like Angelina Jolie\u2019s for evenings out. Lip balm for everyday, and a\u00a0mauve-nude lipstick<\/strong>\u00a0for special occasions.<\/p>\n

Coco Chanel had once said, \u201cA woman who doesn\u2019t wear perfume has no future.<\/a>\u201d It\u2019s completely and total nonsense if you ask me, but alas, Chanel said it so it is God. Perfume helps though, I suppose, so she\u2019s not\u00a0entirely<\/em>\u00a0frivolity and tweed. Julia\u2019s most likely wearing\u00a0Tom Ford\u2019s Black Orchid<\/a>\u00a0(as she\u2019s the face of the perfume adverts)\u2014the<\/em>\u00a0sexiest of sexy fragrances. (After all, anything Tom Ford is synonymous to sex.) But another fantastic fragrance is\u00a0Versace\u2019s Bright Crystal<\/a>. I used to think I was a vanilla\/musk\/amber type, but somehow I can\u2019t get enough of this feminine, floral scent.\u00a0And neither can the boys, let me tell yah<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Simplicity is key<\/strong>,\u00a0mademoiselles<\/em>! We want minimalist, sophisticated. Edgy for a touch of modernity and youth.<\/p>\n

Balance with modesty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The true coquette understands that the key to being a little sexpot is\u00a0leaving more to imagination<\/strong>. There\u2019s no fun in revealing everything at once. Secrecy is what makes it mysterious, and thus, more fun. Case in point: Julia\u2019s showing quite a bit of leg with a mini-something of sorts. To balance it, she pairs it with a much more modest top.<\/p>\n

It also helps if\u00a0Carine Roitfeld is your mother<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
