It hardly helps thumbing through\u00a0<strong>Flickr<\/strong> and ogling over photographs of Barcelona, Thailand, Greece, Portugal,\u00a0<em>et al.<\/em>,\u00a0or watching\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/thecurrentboobies\"><strong>Lorraine Stanick<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s vlogs of her solo (!) travels to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle, and reading about the fabulous <a href=\"http:\/\/sincerely-lauren.blogspot.com\/\"><strong>Lauren<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s Eurotrip and au pair adventures. Already I\u2019ve scrawled into my\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/abitcoquettish\/4795950554\/\"><strong>journal<\/strong><\/a> a list of places to go and things to do there. Bookmarked are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>France <\/strong>(Paris, Southern France, especially)<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>England (<\/strong>London: I absolutely loved it there)<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Spain &amp; Portugal\u00a0<\/strong>(o indulge myself in pretty guitar music and incredible architecture)<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Greece, Italy<\/strong>\u00a0(Anything in the Mediterranean is beautiful)<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Morocco, Egypt<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Dubai UAE<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And within North America\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>New York City<\/strong>\u00a0(Yes, I live within an hour from the city. But I haven\u2019t yet explored it for what it\u2019s worth; are stay-cations tacky?)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>L.A. &amp; San Francisco<\/strong>\u00a0(They look like beautiful cities. Clean, with beautiful weather, and lovely views from every window)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Seattle (<\/strong>An understated and underrated city that\u2019s often a stop for switching between airlines\/flights. From what I could see at 3 a.m., it looks lovely)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Canada<\/strong>\u00a0(Toronto, Montreal, already been to both and am in love)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With only a few weeks before the much awaited for uni move-in day, the only feasible means of satiating my wanderlust is perhaps a trip to Canada. My excitement is a bit childish\u2014I\u2019ve been dog-earing, marking, and researching places to stay, eat, and visit rather maniacally. Toronto! I\u2019ve a soft spot for cities, and want to immerse myself in museums and exploring by day, and late night desserts after a night of dancing by evenings. <em>Suggestions of tacky, tourist-y things to do? And non-tourist-y things to do? <\/em>I\u2019m crossing my fingers in the hopes of actually executing this mini-trip.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It goes without saying that this trip will be with the family, for better or for worse. I can\u2019t help but to dream of traveling alone. Single. Solo. With me, myself, and I (and a great pair of trustworthy shoes!). There\u2019s something incredibly tantalizing in being able to explore the unknown headfirst. And it has such romantic appeal. I suppose meeting a European stranger, falling in love, and all that jazz would be <em>nice<\/em>, but darling, traveling, exploring, indulging, and appreciating with yourself allows you to know <em>you<\/em>.\u00a0It allows for unrestrained immersion in the culture without hindrance. You live, you learn, and you ponder in front of a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jackson_Pollock\"><strong>Pollack<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0determining the meaning of each color streak and splash, for as long as you\u2019d like. Sans interruption.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It\u2019s just you, the city, and all it has to offer.
