I\u2019m also great at making excuses if you couldn\u2019t tell already.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Most importantly, however,\u00a0<strong>I wanted this blog to be about my writing<\/strong>. My perspective. Essentially: me, my brain, my ramblings and I\u2014without me\u00a0<em>actually\u00a0<\/em>in it. I should hope that explanation reads as vaguely comprehensible; regardless, I\u2019ve digressed yet again.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So. Welcome to the\u00a0<strong>Fitting Room Confessions<\/strong>. Since my three-part \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/kimberlypearl.co\/blog\/tag\/defining-style\/\" target=\"_blank\">Defining Style<\/a>\u201d series, more of you have asked that I showcase a bit of my daily style (which is quite\u00a0<em>boring<\/em>, to be honest. Writing about fashion is like a spectator sport for me: I watch, but won\u2019t necessarily participate it its games) and for personal shopping tips. I succumbed \u2013 obviously. So here\u2019s to documented shopping trips: deals, steals, how-to\u2019s, and random shpiels\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>I lied when I said love at first sight didn\u2019t exist.<\/strong>\u00a0Shall I re-tell this love story?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I was browsing (guess which store I was in!).\u00a0Picking up things that caught my eye, combing through for my size, when I caught a glimpse of her silhouette. Grey. Loooong. Leather detailing. Lust? Or love? They say you can love who you trust, but without lust, there isn\u2019t really love\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I\u2019d like to think I have an eye and know myself well enough to not have to try on clothes, or debate over whether or not I like something enough to whip out the plastic.\u00a0<strong>I\u2019m the type of girl who knows exactly what she wants<\/strong>. I see it, I touch it, take a few\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gladwell.com\/blink\/\" target=\"_blank\">blinks<\/a>\u00a0or so at the object in question, and I\u00a0<em>know<\/em>\u00a0whether or not it\u2019ll suit me. (Actually, the deciding factor is the price tag; I refuse to set my heart on the impractical\u2014shopping tip no. 1). Still, I prefer to try things on just to be sure\u2014but that means I don\u2019t try on things for frivolity\u2019s sake. Shopping is strategic game, mes cheries.\u00a0<strong>Play it smart<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Again, I digress. I have a point, and for brevity\u2019s sake:\u00a0<strong>I fell in love<\/strong>. Greys and blacks\u2014my kind of palette. A modest neckline juxtaposed with a body-conscious silhouette (heart\u2019s palpitating at this point). Curve-hugging can be classy; it need not be crude. Knee-length? Someone please tell me why we\u2019ve forgone that, forsaking true sexiness for less-than-modest hemlines. My mindset is clearly still set back in that of the forties, fifties, and seventies fashions. Leather detailing and front panel \u2013 to modernize and add a bit of edginess to an otherwise classic, very feminine dress. Exposed zipper in the back. Sold.\u00a0<strong>It\u2019s safe to say that this dress is the epitome of my style.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Did I mention it fit exactly as I\u2019d hoped?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Va-va-voom it's love\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3185\/5868683536_1f216cfdeb_b.jpg?resize=840%2C630\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"630\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It meant to be: it was the last one at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hm.com\/us\/\" target=\"_blank\">H&amp;M<\/a>. H&amp;M! At $34.95, it was an\u00a0<em>absolute<\/em>\u00a0bargain not just for the design and quality, but because I<em>loved<\/em>\u00a0it. Already I was conspiring ways to wear it every other day and dreaming of a closet stocked with dresses in the same silhouette. My knees go weak at the mention of bodycon, knee-length things.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I can\u2019t believe I just waxed poetic about a dress. Well, not any dress.\u00a0<em>The<\/em>\u00a0dress! My dress.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Do you like my generic hand on hip pose? It seemed adequate\u2014nothing too outrageous\u2014and because I wanted to show off\u00a0<strong>Revlon\u2019s Craving Coral nail varnish\u2014<\/strong>a bright red-coral that reads orange or pink depending on the lighting situation. So that polish plus a similar lipstick shade \u2013 NARS Jungle Red or MAC\u2019s Lady Danger\u2014topped with\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.threecustom.com\/product.php?productid=18605\" target=\"_blank\">Three Custom Color Specialist\u2019s Papaya Crush lipgloss<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0would be my only accessories when wearing this dress. It\u2019s all a statement dress needs, really. No jewelry, no fancy earrings (despite my penchant for anything large and bauble-y), nothing.\u00a0<strong>Just siren red, killer black pumps and this dress.\u00a0<\/strong>It was convenient that those were thing things I so happened to wear that day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I suppose I\u2019ll cheat and have this post double as an \u201cOutfit of the Day\u201d \u00a0because I wore it to work a few days later, coral-red lips and nails inclusive, and kept it on for running errands.
