Let me tell you a thing or two about retail therapy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It works<\/em>.<\/p>\n

And for that reason alone, I’m all for a little bit of indulging here and there when it fits the bill\u2014there’s just some things that a girl needs after two consecutive weeks of sleepless nights spent rehearsing and revising for exams…<\/p>\n

Success at Urban Outfitters by way of a\u00a0DOE Los York New Angeles Muscle Tee<\/a>\u00a0and these\u00a0amaaazing\u00a0<\/em>BDJ Cigarette High-Rise Jean<\/a>\u00a0(I think I’ve found my new holy grail brand for jeans\u2014more on that below). A routine check in the fitting room’s public mirror had another shopper comment with an approving #girlsgotswag<\/em>.<\/p>\n

High-waisted happiness with this pair of\u00a0BDJ High-Rise Two-Tone Coated Jean<\/a>. Black in the front and blue in the back for those days when a girl just can’t choose between her black trousers or indigo Levi’s…<\/p>\n

Oh, the woes of having itty-bitty feet. I spotted these suede d’orsay pumps at Zara and immediately flagged down a sales associate begging<\/em>\u00a0if they carried size fives.\u00a0Negative<\/em>. Of course I was devastated (given my emotional state) until a quick search on the new Zara app assured that they\u00a0did<\/em> carry the\u00a0Asymmetric Court Shoe<\/a>\u00a0in my ever-elusive shoe size. You can only imagine what happened next.<\/p>\n

… but back to how I came across the\u00a0perfect<\/em><\/strong> pair of jeans<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish I had invented blue jeans. They have expression, modesty, sexy appeal, simplicity\u2014all I hope for in my clothes.\u201d<\/p>\n

S<\/i>ometimes a good pair of blue jeans is all it takes to for a girl to\u00a0feel sexy<\/a>. I swear there’s a science behind it all\u2014how the band sits on the hips or waist, how \u00a0the pockets contour the derriere, how the legs mold to or skim the thighs.\u00a0An expensive price tag isn’t necessary (money doesn’t always buy quality), but an impeccable fit is imperative. Once the perfect jean is found, all else that follows is cake.<\/p>\n

Despite the universal appeal, however, the hunt for\u00a0the<\/em> perfect pair<\/strong> renders all positives null and void. It’s a frustrating trial-and-error, leaning more so on the side of errs. A while ago I tweeted<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0(clearly fueled by emotional overwhelm\u2014t was mid-fitting room!) that I’d rather wear yoga pants<\/a>\u00a0for the rest of my life than shop for jeans, and that mass retailers have killed the hourglass. I’m no 38-23-36 (the infamous measurements of Marilyn Monroe<\/a>), but the idea<\/i> of the silhouette is vaguely,\u00a0vaguely\u00a0<\/em>there. By today’s standards (retail consumerism, that is) you can either have a butt and hips\u00a0or<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>a waist. Not both. Dearest child-bearing hips, at least your yoga pants still love you.\u00a0<\/em>I then regret last night’s pizza chow-down, completely ignoring the fact that what I ate is irrelevant to proper fit. (Denim shopping is emotionally trying, you guys!)<\/p>\n

Only\u00a0Current\/Elliott<\/a>\u00a0and Levi’s Curve line<\/a> have met all my requirements for a quality pair of jeans. Focus on the derriere and lengthen the legs. Stretch is an absolute must\u2014if I can’t dance in them, it’s a deal-breaker. No gaps at the waist or at the small of my back, s’il vous plait. Flashing the world is not on my agenda; perhaps if I were more salacious?<\/p>\n

And this is just for regular<\/em> jeans, never mind the high-rised variety. I’ve loved high-waisted jeans since I stumbled upon my mother’s old pairs from her twenties, but wrote it off as an impossibility (mainly from a financial standpoint if I were to find one that fit well.)<\/p>\n

Enter\u00a0BDG jeans<\/a><\/strong>. Check, check,\u00a0check<\/em> on all of the above and more! It’s one of those love at first tries sort of moments. There’s doubt at first glance\u2014ooh, you look too tiny to fit me; what if you disappoint me like all the rest?\u2014<\/em>before you tell yourself,\u00a0Sod it! Just try it on, what have you got to lose??<\/em>
