Blog Love Thursday: A Feature

16 July 2009 • Kimberly • Leave a Comment

The ever lovely (and unbelievably talented) Christine Kim of What Was I Thinking? was so kind as to featuring La Couturier for her latest feature, Blog Love Thursday. I was absolutely floored that such amazing of a blogger would want to interview me; and to my greater surprise, she drew this incredible picture of me, for me (the original photo is here)! I simply cannot thank her enough!

The Interview: BLT No. 4

BLT! What Was I thinking, Christine Kim

“La Couturier defies conventional methods of fashion blogging. You won’t find any photos of her personal wardrobe or even any portaits at all (how mysterious!). What she does offer, however, is her own opinion on fashion! By doing so, she’s very cleverly carved a niche for herself as a fashion commentator and trusted fashion advice columnist. Merci beaucoup, La Couturier!!”

.   .   .

How did you become such an articulate writer?

I’m not quite sure how I became such an articulate writer – or, moreover, if I really am one! All I do know of is that I’ve always loved English, literature, & writing since I was little (kindergarten, to be exact, actually!). And the passion has only grown since then, never once subsiding.

How did you snag your internship?

I’ve just recently resigned from my internship for reasons I shall leave just to myself; but my then boss, Letitia (editor-in-chief of Dujour Magazine) had somehow stumbled across my blog in its early beginning. I assume that she liked my writing voice and personal style, thus offering me a position on her team!

Any advice on how fashion bloggers can keep things fresh on their blogs?

Keeping things “fresh” on your blog is not completely synonymous with updating posts with the latest editorials, trends, designers, etc. Of course you can, if you so wish to make your blog an informative one like Fashionista. However, inserting your point of view, perspectives, and opinions is what keeps your blog fresh and different from the other millions of blogs in the blogosphere (so they call it). Do not be afraid to show who you, as both a person and a lover of fashion, are.

Will we ever see your face?

Ah, the omnipresent question asked by nearly everyone who has stumbled upon my blog. Those who have been readers for quite some time will know that I do enjoy my anonymity, as it does – to some extent – make my opinions, ideas, etc. much more credible. I did, however, succumb and reveal my age in quite the epic post back in April (currently seventeen years old!). And truth be told, I would love much more for readers to read about my thoughts and ideas on whatever I blog about – not simply what I chose to wear. So perhaps one day I’ll reveal my face. Perhaps.

bisous,

La C.

forgot to say that what you advised on blogging – how we have to put a personal touch into it – is totally true. my fashion blog is not as half as interesting to people as my second blog nobourgeoisie.blogspot.com … probably because it is unique and has my own personal touch 🙂 check it out 😉

I love how you say that inserting your own point of view is the way to go for a fresh blog, anyone can do the latest pictures and trend, right? I think it’s that personal taste we all look for in a blog.

Great feature! And I’m loving your blog by the way, it’s a great read. I agree with you on the whole keeping blogs fresh. It’s easy to fall in the trap of posting every update from runway shows, but if people really wanted that, they would probably just go to style.com anyway. Finding a niche is the best, but probably the hardest, advice to take.
