A Step Away From Fashion

30 August 2008 • Kimberly • Leave a Comment

Fashion has always been a passion of mine, but not the only one. Art has been a hobby as well, not straying too far from fashion, rather, just a step away. Painting, drawing, doodling, calligraphy, jewelry making, etc. – I love it all! Sadly, I haven’t been able to do much of it lately, but here’s two that I painted a while ago (wayyy back in ’06!!).

Recreation of LiseLotte Watkin, 6.25.06

I was flipping through this book of fashion illustrators and stumbled upon one by Liselotte Watkins & fell in love with her work! So this is my recreation of one of her paitings, done in water color.

Woman's Silouhette, 6.9.06

I think this is the best painting I’ve ever done (sorry for the quality of the scan…the paper I painted on wasn’t very good watercolor paper). This was done during my I-want-to-be-a-designer phase, where I was trying to perfect the sketch of the body in order to design clothes that were proportional. But I was so proud of this sketch I decided to keep it just as the silouhette of a woman. The bursts of color inside signify what a woman is inside – colorful, beautiful, exciting, feminine – dynamic and ever evolving. I do hope you like it!

xoxo.
