An Obsession with Knits

12 March 2009 • Kimberly • Leave a Comment

I really do love knitwear; it’s warm enough for winter, yet cool enough to wear in the warmer seasons; it’s truly a versatile fabric. Qi Cashmere, a fairly new company, whose intentions are to create this brand of “affordable luxury” (greatly appreciated in economic crises like our current situation) in apparel made of yarns, cotton, cashmere-blend, and cashmere knits. It offers the basics at reasonable prices; fair, no?

qi-fall-20081from left to right…

Pointelle Wrap: I have a particular weakness for these wraps – particularly if they are sheer and light, making them ridiculously versatile. From layering over tanks and jeans to a solution for added warmth with evening dresses, this wrap is a definite must have in my closet. And every woman’s, for that matter, as it does add a bit of sophistication a regular cardigan could not bring to an ensemble.

Cashmere Studded Mock Tunic Dress: Yet another basic, the black sweater dress. Ideal for winter, or for cooler spring nights. I adore anything that is elbow length. And the rows of studs along this hips adds the perfect amount of detail to an otherwise simple dress.

Cashmere Open Back Dress: I absolutely am in LOVE with this dress. The dark gray knit is simply gorgeous; the sleeve length & shape (oh, how I love butterfly sleeves!!) perfect, and the little pleatings sophisticated. I must own it, or at least find one like it; I’m imagining it (like worn on the model) with black opaque tights and a pair of serious ankle booties. In love.

Slouchy Tank Dress: Yet another basic. The loose fit at the torso is quite forgiving; with the sides open, imagine it with a lame bra or a lacy little tank – tres sexy, non? And with a tight fit at the hips and thighs, it is the perfect balance between slouchy and fitted. I would wear this on a girl’s night out, with a pair of black boots or strappy sandals, with four inch heels.

qi-fall-20091from left to right, yet again…

Serena Studded Dress: Embellished articles of clothing and studs continue to dominate fashion trends. Although studs are hardly my style, the balance of the industrial metal with the more feminine, sophisticated cut of the dress balance perfectly to create a stunning mix of texture and style. Gorgeous.

Boleyn Skirt: The most adorable skirt I’ve yet seen. Quite ingenious on Qi’s part to create a high-waisted skirt with a twist – instead of the usual skirt band, it is a ruffled edge, a bit like lettuce leaves, that adds a bit of girlish charm. A must have!

Wyatt Motorcycle Jacket: A fabulous take on the ubiquitous leather motorcycle jacket. Now in a soft, knit material, once more rock-n-roll, tougher jacket has been softened for an easier take on the trend.

These particular picks from Qi’s Fall 2009 collection is utter proof that I do have an obsession with gray along with the color black. Or perhaps gray is a rising trend?

Bisous,

La C.

Ooooh I love wraps so much! There is an english teacher at my school who always wears shawls/pashminas/scarves. She’s a bit eccentric and allthough my friends insist that she doesn’t actually like very much. I still find myself copying her style (as I have been since freshman year). This brand looks posatively amazing and I’m coveting every look.

I’m nervous about summer because I feel like it’s been winter forever and I won’t know how to dress for the warmer months! Haha! I’m sure it will be fine, it’s just weird to think about not having to wear a jacket everywhere.

I am trying to stop liking warm looking clothes… but these look so lovely.

I have noticed that gray and brown are increasingly replacing black and white as my neutrals.

Oh my! Nothing beats cashmere, I bought my first cashmere piece (a Katayone Adeli boatneck black knit) several years ago, and haven’t looked back, it’s just divine.

Thanks for letting us know about Qi! Hope they open their online shop soon! I’m also in love with the open-back dress and the motorcycle jacket you posted, as well as the duster cardigan in the website, so versatile!
    😉

I love all these knits- they’re a mix of casual comfort and yet still remain stylish. Ideally
my wardrobe would contain over 80% of
these cute knitted pieces and I could never
say that I have nothing to wear.

Well, I don’t know how true that would be, I
already have a lot of great clothes(even though
most aren’t knits) and I still “have nothing to
    wear”!
