Wearing: The Line by K Dress (similar) + Loewe Mini Flamenco Python Clutch (similar) + Etsy Gold-Tone Hoops

Another day, another The Line by K look. I’m a creature of habit (and quite silhouette- and brand-loyal once I find something I love), but Karla Deras truly understands women and their bodies—and excels in warm-weather wear. This little black dress (an older design I would’ve loved in white, too) is no exception: beachy in texture without feeling prescriptive, great over a bikini, and offers coverage from the sun whilst remaining breathable at high noon. Florida was too hot for long sleeves, but in L.A., it’s ideal. Larger-than-life Halloween decorations may have been erected on suburban front yards for a few weeks now, but I’m stubborn—and in a summer state of mind, still.

A bit of flounce and flair in the cuffs inspired the bag du jour, naturally. Only the Loewe Flamenco would do, its ruffled scrunch adding another layer of homage to the classic traje de flamenca. I’ve admired the simplicity of this oversized pouch long before its third iteration in 2015, under Jonathan Anderson. But having been a longtime devotee (and collector) of the Bottega Veneta Pouch, I wasn’t quite convinced I needed to add a Flamenco to my collection until I found this python version in marble green. It’s neutral without being beige—a white sage that could pass as grey under overcast skies or dim rooms, but reads more pistachio against bright whites and sunlight.

Fragrance of the day was Bottega Veneta Acqua Sale—a perfume I love for its transparency and complexity. A brief tickle of black pepper opens before warming into smooth, powdery orris. Balsamic notes bring a subtle, seductive depth; juniper berry and mandarin oils ensure the vetiver and labdanum base never stray too earthy. In true Bottega fashion, this is meant to be more worldly than untethered. The star notes, however, are the sea salt accord mixed with musk and osmanthus. The first two are fairly intuitive as a pairing, but the addition of the third—a honeyed apricot floral—is smart and the effect, sensorial.
