You’ve Saved La Rent

2 November 2010 • Kimberly • Leave a Comment

I’ve always been fascinated with Coco Rocha since reading bits and features about the supermodel in my Teen Vogue days (I ended my subscription after my 18th birthday, coincidentally). She first caught my attention once I found out she was a dancer—she had been discovered at an Irish dance competition—and the deal was sealed once Teen Vogue had a piece featuring her artwork. S o l d . She blogs, she’s Canadian (I’m American, but Canadian people have this je-ne-sais quoi cool factor, much like Europeans but far more relaxed), and I think she’s beautiful sans the runway makeup.

And she has an incredibly  b e a u t i f u l  home: a two-bedroom Grammercy Park, Manhattan apartment, bought three years ago and now shared with her husband James Conran. I can’t even begin to verbalize (or textualize, since we’re in the blogosphere?) how infatuated I am with her apartment, the proper adjective lying somewhere between being in love and obsessed. Coco’s apartment is inspiring. Beautiful. Chic. Everything a home should always be.

Duly taking notes, all the while dreaming of waking up in this gorgeous place.

{that view, those books, the antique clock.}

{that wardrobe, those strong jackets, that d r e s s (!) , that chair}

{… and those boots…}

{a swoon-worthy makeup collection}

{a handmade piggy bank which looks like a ysl handbag, but reads “you’ve saved la rent” – absolutely brill}

{a wedding present from steven meisel, to which coco says: “i’ve never liked hanging my model photos in my home, but this is an exception because it almost looks like a painting.”}

.   .   .

I’m about ready to buy my own little place now. Step one to this investment and undertaking an interior design project? Hunting down a “You’ve Saved La Rent” piggy bank of my own.

      I haven’t, unfortunately. How sweet is it? I’m sure if you check Etsy or Ebay every so often you might just stumble upon it! (: x
