Derek Lam Spring 2009

13 September 2008 • Kimberly • Leave a Comment

I love Derek Lam – him, his clothing collections, and his bags. I love everything about him! This spring/summer RTW collection had an air of sophisticated serenity: light, drapy fabrics in beautiful nudes, totaly simple yet undeniably classic. The accessories were just as fabulous: the strappy heels were simply divine (I am lusting after the black ones!). And the bags? As per usual, buttery soft in lovely, delicately feminine colors.

I love DL!!

xoxo.

p.s.: I just received my October issue of ELLE! =) I.Love.That.Cover. It’s black and white, with silver, simple, and just glamorous. There’s only one line on the cover – finally: a magazine that doesn’t advertise its contents with words emblazend across the picture. This is one of those artistic covers that go back to way back then =). I can’t wait to read it! For some of you readers, here’s a picture! (and yes, I do have purple leopard print bedding…i love it!)

I love the color pallete of these looks, however I do tend to look hideous in such nude tones (I just looked washed out and naked haha).

The new cover of ELLE sounds beautiful! I’d love to see it… is it the American ELLE? I looked online but couldn’t find it… 🙁

I love when designers actually showcase ready-to-wear looks on the runway! Great feature =)

wow, thats so funny you should mention the elle cover. my friend rosie from la mode vogue came over today and brought that with her. oh the irony! and i love jennifer lopez–she is my hero! (and is from the same block in the bronx that im from..)
i didn’t particularly care for derek lams collection tho, some was cute but the rest i could do without. im a weirdo, i know lol.

I prefer your bedspread !! It’s so wickedly awesome! lol.

Derek Lam is always classy, though I’m not such a big fan of the nude colour. It’s very unflattering on most normal people aka non-models! =(

Oh thank you so much for your offer to take a picture of the cover for me, that is so sweet of you! 🙂 Although I see you’ve added a picture of the cover to entry, and it is quite lovely! I find an U.S. ELLE October Cover with J.Lo, but it was a different picture and absolutely marred with headlines and words. Hm, maybe there are two covers for this month? Anyway, I like this cover so much better than the other I saw! 🙂

(I was secretly hoping the leggings would go away, sigh!). Now about that Elle – is not bad at all, the cover looks perfectly retro (and the JLo pictorial is lovely! Hope she didn’t push to have it)

Thanks for your comment on my blog! 🙂

And hm, that’s interesting… perhaps they are sending their subscribers a different cover than what they’re putting on newstands? Hm, well it’s a mystery really, I guess! 😀

I love the navy/black DL dress at the bottom right- it reminds me of Balmain’s fall 08 collection which I am nothing short of OBSESSED with 😉

I love the “sophisticated serendipity” of Derek Lam’s new stuff. The colors and lush fabrics are perfection! Thanks for keeping up on all the shows (the important ones!). Cheers!
