Indisputably one of my favorite designers of all time. He gets the woman. He gets the American woman. He gets the market, the consumer. I spy Celine, Mad Men, Grease. Simple, clean lines or swooping drapes. Sexy done right, every time. Twenties dresses for the flapper of the 21st century who drinks dirty martini’s during lunch hour and leather shifts for the Pink Ladies gone corporate. Also adoring the impeccable styling and play with color schemes (his palettes are always incredible)—monochromatic ensemblescan be so lengthening.

Ralph Lauren

Okay, okay—I know what you’re thinking. Nineteen year old girls should not be hankering over things like Ralph Lauren and knee-length pencil skirts and clothing fit for a corporate environment. But I am! Judge me. Red lips! Fitted pencil skirts that hit right below the knee cap! Blouses tucked in to everything! Twenties meets le smoking with a definite Eastern inspiration. I sometimes have the taste of a woman in her mid-thirties, so I promise you I won’t be offended if you tell me so. I’m well aware, thanksyouverymuch.

Victoria Beckham

I don’t care what anyone says. I’ve always loved Victoria Beckham’s collections; perhaps that makes me a fashion veectim, but I will give credit when it is due. She (or whoever is designing) understands the woman and her needs. Perfectly suitable and appropriate for corporate environments without having to forgo femininity or style and transitions well into an evening out. Or maybe this is the 19-going-on-30 year old talking. I have my own cubicle. I can’t help with knee-length things are always on my mind…

Dear Zac — Your models scare me; the Addams family look isn’t exactly a look I find appealing. However, there’s something about your clothes that make it impossible for me not to give the campaign a second look, which is, I suppose, all that matters in the end. And no, it’s not just because I’m a fiend for black (and neutrals). Fall through your eyes is dark, romantic, feminine with unadulterated sex appeal. A pass on the black lips and cadaverous powdered skin, but the clothes? Send them my way, s’il vous plaît.
